I did not expect the movie to be of this quality. Virtually everything about it was great; the quality of the filming, the quality of the acting, the story line. I actually cried at one point.
The movie had been heavily promoted by my childhood friend Saad, and his wife, who’s the director’s sister. Considering this, and that I know the film’s creator personally, who was in the same Hajj group (hamla) with us way back in 2005, we went to see the movie more out of obligation than genuine interest. And I’m really glad we did.
The movie of course was a historic event for Dubai and the UAE, and stayed in Cinema’s for two months! I really recommend you watch it, because it shows you such a multi-faceted side of Dubai. It’s really fascinating. Here’s a short interview with Ali Mostafa.
Talk to you soon.
