What a Great Weekend!

Every once in a while, I have a great weekend.  To be honest, most of my weekends are good, but I really loved this one.  Friday morning I got up at around 9 am and spent time with my kids.

I played “fairy snap” with my daughter Selma and cuddled and played with baby Tameem.  He’s 10 months old and beginning to be a lot of fun.  He’s becoming really attached to me and I love it!

Poor Selma had a semi-nervous breakdown as she had to go to school the next day (Saturday).  Thanks to the um… ‘brilliant’ ministry decision to delay the opening of the schools due to Overrated Hog Panic Syndrome (OHPS, aka swine flue), she has to attend one Saturday a month.  She’s had a ton of home work and then had to go to school the next day.  It was “so unfair” she complained.  Poor girl, for a seven year old I think they give her way too much homework.

Anyway, she got over it eventually.  My wife had the great idea of staying home and cooking our own lunch with the kids.  So we went to the cold store, bought some ingredients, and proceeded to prepare our own lunch.  Me, my wife and the kids.  We had a blast!  The kitchen was a mess but the food was extra tasty 🙂

The kids helped cut the vegetables, do the cooking and set the table.  Afterwards we had my wife’s delicious “apple lacy”; baked apples with crushed walnuts and maple syrup, very tasty!  It was a wonderful family bonding experience.

Later in the afternoon, due to the improving weather, we spent the day hanging out in the garden.  We brought out the straw carpet and just hung out, it was great.  I also played football with Laith – he won 🙂

After putting the kids to bed we went out to dinner with two couple friends whom we haven’t seen in while.  We had a really fun time, and stayed out much longer than expected.

Next morning poor Selma had to go to school.  My wife took her, and then we did out Saturday morning yoga session.  I then spent the morning with Laith playing hide and seek and sparring (fighting).  We had a blast.

In the afternoon we spent time at my sister’s house, playing football with my nephews and family friends.  It’s 10 pm now and I need another weekend to recover from this one 😛

Hope you had a good one too.
