Gliding High

We went to visit my aunt in Ginseldorf yesterday. My aunt flies glider planes as a hobby. I went with her for the first time ever. Before take-off I was so excited I decided that I was going to get my own gliding pilot-licence one day.

The experience was wonderful, and the free flying experience cannot be compared to any motor planes – it was amazing! But there was a big downer; those cockpits are pretty tight! I had a hard time fitting in with my 6 foot 2 inch frame. I guess I need to try a couple of more times before I decide to get a license. (There are no flying schools in Bahrain, and I’m not sure Arabs can still get flying licenses abroad, but hey I’m optimistic. “If there is a will, there’s a way” as they say).

Here are some photos, and a video of my take-off. Hope you like them!

That’s a unique experience. I know. I had a go in my younger days. Gliding at the speed of the air up there in the sky. Indescribable. I liked the “Ich will auch” (I want to have a go) in the background. Gliding is an experience that kids can appreciate even more than adults.

Hi Sensei! I’ve done this before and it’s truly an excellent experience! Glad that you had a go and experienced something not many people have 🙂 Take care and have a lot more fun!
